Best raw beef laab in Sacramento. kapiek is good if u eat in. Meatballs are delicious. Papaya also very delicious because the papaya sauce is really good and dark the way I like it. I reside in EG and drive all the way to pick up food here sometimes.

Whenever I'm in the north Sacramento area, South East Asian BBQ is my go to for meatballs, Lao pho and raw beef larb. This pho is different from the Vietnamese pho that everyone is use too. It's simple and cleaner tasting without all the herby smell and taste. Sometimes I just want this type of pho and this is the place to go to. Their papaya is also really good. Just becareful when telling them how spicy you want it. Their spice is spicy. I also really like their meatballs too. Nice and bouncy to pair with the sweet and sour sauce. If you like bbq chicken wings, they also have some really good chicken wings too. Just know that this is an order and pay first restaurant. Once you order and paid then you go find a table and they'll bring out your food once it's cooked. Also, they only accept cash.

Wow I'm very happy that this place is staying open. I'm leaving a long overdue review so I don't forget to keep coming here. I have stumbled upon this place when I used to live in natomas area in desperate to find a great S.E.A. spot. This place definitely stood out at all the dishes I've had. Kapoon, kapiek, bbq wings were definitely a staple for everyone here. Saw the cashier evolve, super nice and very welcoming I hope she's doing well. She randomly hook us up. Love the ambience inside, it feels so homey, outside not so much lol but definitely feels like home and bomb home cooked meals from your ma typa feels, ya know. Stay up. Cheers

Pretty authentic Lao spot in sac! It was pretty good but since we ordered so much food I wasn't able to try the fried quail eggs and grilled chicken sadly. Only thing I have to say was the noodle portion for a bit small for papaya

I came here with some family members while in the area. We were together to handle some sad arrangements for a lost loved one. After dealing with the important issues, we found ourselves overcome with not only grief but hunger. It was a bit of a search on Yelp to find some local restaurants we could agree on. That's when we narrowed it down to South East Asian BBQ. It was a little complicated to locate this neighborhood restaurant in an older part of town. But the sign came into view and we knew this was the place! It's a bit of a "hole in the wall," but that's what we love - new and interesting ethnic cuisine! As we walked in, there is a menu posted with photos of their dishes and a barely readable typed up menu with ingredients of each item they serve. We ordered several dishes to share. Nam Khao salad made with fried rice, chili, lime, cilantro and green onion. Served with green leaf lettuce and cabbage wedges. Beef Jerky with fish sauce. House made Lao sausage served on a bed of shredded cabbage. Since I prefer to eat vegetarian, I ordered a separate dish called Tum Som: shredded green papaya mixed with chili pepper, garlic, tomatoes, lime juice and house made fish sauce. Served with vermicelli noodles and cabbage wedge. I requested a mild spice level. Everyone just loved their food! However, as much as I wanted to enjoy my meal, it was just too dang spicy for me to finish! When I told them I could not continue eating my food because it was too hot, the waitress just laughed. But I don't think she understood what I said due to the language barrier...

This has got to be one of the best local eateries in the Sacramento area regarding quality Lao cuisine. You first order at the counter (cash only) and pick from a range of Lao dishes that usually take so much time to make in a traditional house hold. Lao food is savory, salty, and spicy. The dishes have a variety of veggies that pair well with the protein . My personal favorite here is the papaya , sausage , sticky rice, and intestine soup. These flavors are NOT watered down. If you're not familiar with Lao and Thai foods made with our native recipes , then beware. This place is flavor town!

I came here with a friend after seeing someone post the food on Instagram. That was the best idea I had all day. First, CASH ONLY. Thankfully I had a friend with cash with me after I placed my big order and realize it was cash only. I took a picture of the menu. Since I didn't know several of the things where I asked the lady and she came around and explained everything to me. Everyone here is very pleasant and friendly. I was hungry so I ordered a large portion. You can see the difference in the photo between a small and a large. I could have gone swimming in this bowl . I had the Khao Poon and egg rolls, plus Thai tea. Very flavorful, with a little zip. I ordered some ribs for my son, and he said the seasoning was fantastic. There's lots of parking outside. Ambiance is pretty utilitarian. Everything was clean, and it was nice to be able to sit and talk without anyone rushing you. I will definitely be going back.
